Read Bloomberg’s article on Sultan Al Jaber

The UAE has chosen His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “ADNOC,” a pioneer in the oil and gas industry, CEO of “Masdar,” also a leader in providing solutions in clean and renewable energy, as Chairman of the (COP28) conference, which prompted the demagogues From climate activists and environmental workers – led by Al Gore, former US Vice President Bill Clinton, who perfected gossip and theorizing without finding solutions.

While the irrefutable fact is that the choice of Dr. Al-Jaber came based on his career and his pioneering role in climate action, and his practical efforts in supporting the transition to clean, renewable energy, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels, a position that the world, experts and international agencies alerted him to, the editorial of the “Bloomberg” economic agency, in which it concluded that Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al-Jaber is “the ally that the climate change needs.”

The article presented an examination based on proven facts from experience, indicating that the selection of Dr. Al-Jaber did not come from a vacuum but rather based on what the man possesses of credit and practical history that makes him the most capable of achieving and meeting the requirements of the presidency of (COP28), especially at this stage that the climate is going through.

We will go into a detailed review of what this editorial dealt with in fairness to Dr. Sultan Al Jaber. Still, it must be mentioned that he was previously appointed twice as the UAE’s Special Envoy for Climate Change (from 2010 to 2016 and from 2020 until now). He also participated in more than ten previous conferences, including the historic COP21 conference in Paris in 2015. These experiences make him the most capable of dealing with the climate crisis and thus provide an integrated vision to address climate change.

It seemed remarkable that the editorial of “Bloomberg” focused on the recent visit of Dr. Sultan Al Jaber to India, during which he explained the seriousness of the challenge awaiting the world and conveyed the UAE’s desire to help India achieve its ambitious goals in the field of clean energy, as he called for more investment in technology and Decarbonisation, including nuclear and hydrogen, endorsed a whole-of-society approach, mobilized in every sector, asked development banks and financial institutions to do more, and spoke of a critical but often overlooked problem: the need to mitigate the climate impact of fossil fuels during the global transition to clean energy,

And while the “Bloomberg” editorial concluded that there is a difference between giving a good speech and mobilizing the world for action, Dr. Al-Jaber stressed in his speech that the (COP28) summit of 2023 should be “for action,” a summit that moves the world “from talking about goals to accomplishing the task.”

Therefore, “the climate needs an ally like Sultan Al Jaber,” as he is a strategic ally and the most capable of achieving. The UAE is committed to protecting the environment and supporting international action to achieve sustainability is firm, continuous, and practical in the interest of its people and the service of humankind.
