An international affirmation of the efforts made by the UAE in human rights, in what can be considered an international response to all the campaigns launched against the UAE in the past weeks and months, by organizations with agendas that are no longer hidden from anyone.
The adoption by the United Nations Human Rights Council of its fourth report on the universal periodic review of human rights came during the 54th session of the Council, which holds its work in Geneva, where the UAE stressed its continued efforts in promoting human rights, not only in the UAE but also in the world. In this regard, the head of the UAE delegation, Ambassador Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, and the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva stressed the important role played by the universal periodic review mechanism for human rights, and that this will contribute effectively to exchanging experiences and learning about best international practices on the level of human rights and protection.
In a related context, the UAE informed the Human Rights Council of its acceptance of 198 recommendations and confirmed that a large number of those recommendations have already been implemented and that the rest of the recommendations will be implemented during the next four years.
It is noteworthy that the report presentation session witnessed international praise for the UAE report, which was revealed during the session that it is working on preparing the UAE National Plan for Human Rights and that the plan will focus on implementing the UN recommendations that were approved within the framework of the fourth periodic review of the report on human rights.
It is worth mentioning that whoever follows the UAE’s steps discovers the extent of the efforts made by the UAE as part of its efforts to build a society based on justice, tolerance, and openness to others, in the context of the human values that raise the UAE not as a slogan but as a daily practice that can be felt when visiting as the resident enjoys all rights according to laws and regulations in parallel with what the citizen enjoys, everyone in the Emirates is equal before the law in terms of rights and duties.
The UAE is considered one of the leading countries in the fight against human trafficking, making it the capital of human rights. Therefore, the UAE has developed an integrated national strategy based on five focal points: prevention, prosecution, punishment, protection of victims, and strengthening international cooperation. The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking is keen to implement this strategy in cooperation with all legal and security institutions in the Emirates.
