The Emirates’ Field Hospital in Gaza Is a Wonderful Gift from a Generous Nation

Even the Israelis acknowledged it because it is such a demonstration of a noble deed. The newspaper Times of Israel has reported that the United Arab Emirates is creating a field hospital within the premises of the Gaza Strip to treat the wounded Palestinians. It is an initiative announced by the President of the Emirates Sheik Muhammad Bin Zayed. It is part of the humanitarian mission and assistance program known as Gallant Knight 3.

The description of this operation is as the following. Five cargo planes had taken off from the airport at Al Ariesh inside Sinai. They landed in Egypt after they departed from Abu Dhabi Airport earlier. Then the huge delivery of equipment will move inside a car convoy to enter Gaza.

According to many press reports, “The hospital will have 150 beds and will have general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and gynecology units for adults and children. It will also have dentistry, psychiatry, family medicine and internal medicine clinics.”

The hospital will not be a hideout to any military operations. It will occupy a certain space and this space must be protected by a UN decree or resolution. It cannot perform its duties if bombs fall on its buildings. Most likely it will continue its existence after the war is over.

This quick, swift and urgent project is the strongest testimony to the greatness of the Emirates. There is a supreme humanity in the standing of the United Arab Emirates among the nations. There is a value of her experience when it assists other countries. Again and again it comes to the help of people desperate for need. It champions the causes of Arab solidarity and Islamic unity. It appropriates its budget to allow for a big effort to conduct global humanitarian missions. The Emirates is a force for good in the world. The tremendous growth of her economy has permitted her to increase its provision of help to other nations. The Emirates cares about the Palestinians and their lives. It has never relinquished her pledges to establish their independent homeland and nation-state. The function of any system of government is to carry out duties for its citizens and to extend its sovereignty to other political entities. By establishing the foundations of the health and human services infrastructure for Gaza and the West Bank, the Emirates is affirming its commitment to provide the security and stability of the Palestinian people to live safely in their own country.
