UAE Secures The Release Of 180 Prisoners. Is Peace In Gaza Next?

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been able to secure a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine. In total, 180 people will be returning home.

This is the fifth exchange brokered by the UAE’s Foreign Ministry, led by Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed. The UAE has long been seen as an “honest broker” by both sides in the conflict.

The UAE also oversaw the exchange of two prisoners of the United States & Russian in December 2022.

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed is also noted for a viral video where he warns the west about radical Islam & allowing radicals & terrorists to live in Europe. A warning which still seems unheeded.

The UAE has long been considered the Middle East’s progressive states. It boasts one Synagogue & five Christian churches. Jewish men in Dubai are seen eating in restaurants wearing kippahs.
The Jewish Chronicle wrote in 14th April 2022, the UAE is, “one of the happiest and healthiest Jewish communities I had ever encountered.”

The UAE is one of the four Muslim signatories to the Abraham Accords, which seeks to normalise relations between Israel & Arab countries.

In Washington DC, it was announced that the UAE & Egypt are to participate in a postwar Gaza security force. The information was disseminated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is keen for allies in the region, despite the lack of a ceasefire in Gaza.

The forces would work with local Palestinian officers, with the condition there would be a pathway to a Palestinian state.

The UAE has also demanded US involvement in the security process.

This may be in conflict with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who wishes to retain security responsibilites. The UAE is a small country with a population of 9.44 million, but seems to punch well above its weight diplomaically.
