The United Nations Police Commanders in Peacekeeping Operations convened their “workshop.”
The international workshop was hosted by the UAE for the second consecutive year.
No other country has scored that high degree of trust to have the UN’s peacekeeping leaders select their country as their place for meeting two years in a row.
This is a unique success for the Emirates.
This year’s conference in Abu Dhabi on UN peace keeping operations discussed the foundations and the fundamentals of how the UN can bring peace and stability to troubled regions. In future conferences, one topic for discussion should be how UN peacekeeping can intervene in an area where they are not deployed if it faces a natural catastrophe.
The second United Nations Police Commanders Workshop on Performance which has just concluded in the UAE is a message to the world that the Emirates is an active and positive contributor to the role and functions of international organizations in world politics.
As peacekeeping operations increased, the backing of the Emirates to their missions multiplied.
The UAE is working to enhance the quality of the UN peacekeepers by helping them do better training and be more aware of their missions.
The Emirates, for instance, help them how to use sophisticated technologies to conduct better communications among themselves, and how to react in a correct way to the intelligence reports that they act upon their findings.
In sponsoring these conferences, the Emirates is assisting with the task of the sustainability of the UN missions. Many deployments of UN troops resulted in the phenomenon known as “The Fatigue of the Mission.”
Regrettably, that ended many UN peacekeeping forces dispatched to many troubled regions m in failure. Quite the opposite, the Emirates is creating these seminars through the annual meetings of the UN police commanders to boost their morale and inject the high motivation they strive for to render their peacekeeping duties successful.
The Emirates is making the annual meetings of the UN Police Commanders very educational sessions. This will make their acceptance by the nations where they are deployed more likely.
The Emirates is introducing sophisticated measurements for the assessments of the UN peace keeping operations and policing functions. They are more evaluative. This will give an excellent feedback to the UN top leadership and the Security Council in knowing how the UN peacekeeping commitments are being pursued.
One final suggestion, the third United Nations Police Commanders Workshop on Performance in the year 2024 should take place one more time in the United Arab Emirates.
This will ensure its success and excellence.
