Artificial Intelligence Will Be a Bridge for the World to Achieve Development

The UAE is continuously active in various fields, including political, social, and economic spheres, achieving many accomplishments, especially in the knowledge economy, where it leads the world in artificial intelligence. To further enhance this, the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Managing Director and CEO of ADNOC and its group of companies, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, visited the United States. During his visit to Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, Dr. Al Jaber emphasized the importance of companies focusing on the integration between the energy sector and artificial intelligence to build a low-carbon future and promote sustainable economic and social growth, In a meeting with Brad Smith, Vice Chairman and President of Microsoft, Dr. Al Jaber highlighted the significant energy needed to enable the world to achieve its AI ambitions.

During a podcast with Brad Smith, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber explained that harnessing the power of artificial intelligence will provide important opportunities for the energy sector to form diverse partnerships across different sectors. He mentioned that AI could revolutionize the energy sector by using leading AI technologies to help reduce carbon emissions and enhance safety standards. Dr. Al Jaber stated: “We have an extraordinary opportunity, the most important since the first industrial revolution, and we must seize it to achieve sustainable economic and social development.”

The British “Financial Times” had previously quoted Dr. Sultan Al Jaber saying that AI needs energy and energy needs AI. He called for international cooperation to reduce emissions from traditional energy sources and to explore ways AI can enhance energy efficiency. ADNOC aims to establish itself as the leading AI-driven energy company globally. For Dr. Al Jaber, AI represents “the bridge” through which the world can “reduce emissions while simultaneously driving social and economic value everywhere.”

In 2023, ADNOC achieved an additional value of 1.84 billion dirhams by deploying AI solutions and leveraging digital transformation capabilities and technological solutions, from control rooms and operations to executive boardrooms. Dr. Sultan Al Jaber is set to achieve new success as the President of COP28 by inviting the heads of the world’s largest energy and technology companies to hold discussions and attend the “Council of Change Makers” in early November, just days before COP29 in Azerbaijan, to discuss AI and energy transformation.

Before his visit to the United States, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber met with U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm at ADNOC’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. They discussed opportunities to strengthen the strategic relationship between the UAE and the United States in the energy sector through the “U.S.-UAE Strategic Partnership for Clean Energy Investment.” Dr. Al Jaber emphasized the UAE leadership’s commitment to extending and enhancing bridges of communication and cooperation with the international community. He pointed out the strong and deep-rooted political, economic, and commercial relations between the UAE and the United States.

Secretary Granholm toured ADNOC’s “Panorama” Digital Command Center, where she was briefed on the company’s efforts to integrate AI solutions specifically designed for the energy sector and deploy them across all its operations to make smarter decisions that enhance safety standards and reduce carbon emissions.

Once again, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber demonstrates that the UAE and its leadership possess a forward-looking vision for adopting and relying on artificial intelligence, harnessing it to serve humanity in all sectors.
