The emirates at a sensitive timing: The human being is the basis

By Sally Goldman

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan says: “The human being is the goal”, a saying whose translation we see in all the initiatives launched by the Emirates at home and abroad. Under the guidance and follow-up of the true gallant knight represented by President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the air bridge of aid was accompanied by relief teams arriving successively in the affected areas.

The UAE has mitigated its impact by various means, including what was revealed by the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths; the best evidence of what Abu Dhabi has done, where Griffiths said: “The UAE’s humanitarian giving came at an important and sensitive time to save a life.” Many of the affected and afflicted families as a result of the earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey.”

It is worth mentioning that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the provision of an additional amount of $50 million for the relief of those affected by the earthquakes in Syria in continuation of the UAE’s continuous efforts to lift the grievances of the Syrian people and to provide aid to those affected.

In detail, $20 million will be allocated to implement humanitarian projects in response to the United Nations’ urgent appeal for Syria in coordination with the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The UAE has sent 38 planes to Syria carrying about 1,243 tons of food and medical aid, in addition to 2,893 tents to shelter approximately 20,000 people, in addition to sending a search and rescue team consisting of 42 people to carry out search and rescue missions in the areas affected by earthquakes in Turkey , 32 planes carrying medical equipment and materials, in addition to 927 shelter tents benefiting nearly 5,000 people, a field hospital in the “reform” area that contains 50 beds complete with all medical supplies and devices, operating rooms, and a medical team that includes 75 doctors, nurses and assistants, in addition to establishing another hospital in the Hatay region that contains 200 beds.

Field developments have proven that the UAE is one of the first donor countries in terms of humanitarian and charitable work in the world and spares no effort in order to preserve human dignity . The humanitarian aid the UAE provides is not linked to the political orientations of the beneficiary countries, neither geographical area, race, color, sect, or religion, but primarily takes into account the humanitarian aspect, saving lives and protecting human dignity in light of crises.
