The Muslim Brotherhood and its associated organizations have managed to operate with impunity to destabilize America and slowly turn the country into a nation that accepts the most virulent forms of radical Islam. Texas Governor Abbot and Attorney General Paxton clearly recognize the threat which became frontline news when EPIC City was proposed by the East Plano Islamic Center. Approximately 402 acres with over a thousand residential homes, a mosque, K-12 faith-based education, and a community college. This is creeping Sharia, exactly what I witnessed in Belgium and why that country is lost, but if America expects to halt this slide they must target CAIR and follow the money.
There should be no confusion, CAIR operates as the mothership in America for the Muslim Brotherhood. One of the main reasons it is so difficult to prosecute the Brothers is because of their structure which is by design, affiliated groups which appear independent and move money around outside of regular banking systems (hawala). There has only been one legal case which prosecuted a Muslim Brotherhood organization in America’s history, the Holy Land Foundation (HLF). HLF and seven individuals were indicted in 2004 on charges including conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization (Hamas), providing material support to Hamas, money laundering, and tax fraud. The convictions involved funneling over $12.4 million to Hamas (primarily through zakat committees in the West Bank and Gaza controlled by or supportive of Hamas), money laundering, and tax fraud. After the 2007 conviction the incoming Obama Administration would view the Muslim Brotherhood as a benign organization and federal law enforcement looked the other way.
The Federal Government may have looked away and Trump’s designation of Muslim Brotherhood chapters in Middle Eastern countries would appear helpful with the Texan lawsuit, but it could have complicating issues. The lawsuit against HLF was a federal case, but Paxton’s case against The Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR is at the state level which could ignite debates over state versus federal rights.
The Trump Administration needs to support the case filed in Texas and place the full weight of the Justice Department behind a forensic accounting examination to track the money. If the French took action against an NGO described as the “primary fundraiser in France” for Hamas, it should not take too much political will for Trump to act. If CAIR was named as an unindicted coconspirator in the HLF trial (2007) it is past due for them to be further investigated no matter how much they scream Islamophobia.
