NACL Resolution and statements on Supporting Persecuted Minorities in Syria.

Conway, AR – The National Association of Christian Lawmakers (NACL) today announced that the National Legislative Council Executive Committee, chaired by Rep. John McCravy of South Carolina, convened an emergency meeting to address the escalating crisis facing the Druze people in Syria. The matter was formally brought to NACL’s attention by U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman of Indiana, prompting rapid action by NACL leadership.

Following the emergency session, the National Legislative Council adopted a resolution on Thursday, September 11, 2025, recognizing the Druze people and condemning atrocities against religious and ethnic minorities in Syria. The resolution reaffirms NACL’s commitment to religious freedom and human dignity; condemns genocide, persecution, and ethnic cleansing targeting Druze, Christians, and other minorities; urges U.S. and international leaders to prioritize protection of vulnerable communities and demand accountability for war crimes; and calls for measured steps including conditioning sanctions relief on verifiable progress in religious freedom and human rights, and international supervision toward demilitarization in mixed-population regions of Syria.

“As Christian lawmakers, we are compelled to act when any community is targeted for its faith. The Druze people—alongside Christians and other minorities in Syria—deserve security, dignity, and the freedom to worship without fear. Today’s action by NACL reflects both our faith and our duty to seek justice.”

U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN) stated:

“I appreciate NACL’s swift response. America and our allies must stand with persecuted people, including the Druze, and insist on concrete human-rights benchmarks in any policy toward Syria. We cannot look away from targeted violence against religious minorities.”

MK Hamad Amar (Israel Beytenu), Member of the Knesset; former Minister of Aliyah and Integration (2021–2022), said:

“Today is a historic and deeply meaningful day for the Druze, Christian, and other persecuted minorities in Syria. Religious freedom is our lifeline, and it must be preserved for all communities of faith.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Senator Jason Rapert and the National Association of Christian Lawmakers for recognizing the genocide in Suwayda and bringing urgent attention to the suffering of my Druze brothers and sisters—and all religious minorities.

This recognition is also a call to the greater Christian community worldwide to stand with us. The timing on September 11 is especially significant a reminder of the ongoing war against terror that claimed the lives of so many innocent Americans 24 years ago and continues to endanger lives across the globe. On this day of remembrance, we affirm together that terror in all its forms must be confronted and defeated.

We are profoundly grateful for your solidarity, your faith, and your courage, and may this resolution serve as a template for all lawmakers, the United Nations, and all defenders of religious freedom around the world.”

Consistent with the resolution, NACL will transmit the adopted policy to appropriate U.S. officials and international partners—including the President, Members of Congress, relevant ambassadors, foreign affairs and security committees, and key faith and civil-society organizations urging coordinated action to safeguard at-risk communities and to uphold international norms on religious liberty and human rights.
